All Ayodhya temples including of Ram Lalla to be ready in 18 months

Given Rama's significance as an incarnation of Vishnu, it was deemed essential to have temples dedicated to deities He reveres and souls who got His sannidhi

The target is to complete the construction of all three floors of the Ram temple in Ayodhya by December this year. With this, within 18 months, the remaining 50% of the work of Sheshavtar Temple and eight other temples, Ram Mandir’s ramparts and passenger convenience centre, proposed as a supplementary project to the Ram Temple, will be completed.

Sharing the information, Champat Rai, the general secretary of Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, told reporters after the second day of the Ram Temple Construction Committee meeting held in the Ramjanmabhoomi complex that 25 to 30 lakh devotees were expected to come on the occasion of Ram Janmotsav. Although Ram Janmotsav is to be celebrated on 17 April, the increase in the footfalls of devotees will last for the whole week and the trust is making arrangements to meet the administrative challenge.

Rai called for visiting Ram Lalla like a general devotee seeking a darshan rather than a VIP. He said that it would take only an hour to have a darshan of Ram Lalla from the entry to the exit of the Ram Janmabhoomi Marg. It takes around 40 min for what is called a Sugam Darshan, but as a general devotee, one gets the opportunity to see Ram Lalla from 100 feet away.

Based on the head-count software fitted in CCTV cameras, the general secretary of the trust said that every day 1.25 to 1.5 lakh devotees were coming for a darshan of Ram Lalla. This number was 2.25 lakh on 10 March and 1.75 lakh on 17 March. This will only increase with the emergence of new temples.

Confirming that some touts may be fleecing devotees in the name of providing them with a VIP darshan opportunity, Rai said such an act was a sin against Ram Lalla. He expected the SSP to take strict action as per the law in this matter.

The crowd will increase on Ram Navami and some unscrupulous elements in the holy city can take advantage of people’s faith.

Temples coming up

Following the inauguration of the main temple in January, authorities informed the media about extensive plans to transform Ayodhya into a global spiritual tourism destination. The project includes the construction of a minimum of 13 new temples, with six situated within the temple complex and seven outside.

Swami Gurudev Giriji, the Treasurer of Ram Janambhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, provided further details on the ongoing projects, emphasizing the progress being made on the main temple and other associated structures.

Given Rama’s significance as an incarnation of Vishnu, it was deemed essential to have temples dedicated to deities such as Ganapati, Shiva, Surya, and Goddess Jagdamba. These temples are strategically located at the four corners of the main temple, with a separate shrine planned for Hanuman, Rama’s devoted follower.

Construction is currently underway on these temples, with idols already installed. The meticulous process of polishing the idols and adding final touches remains a crucial aspect of the pending tasks.

Additionally, a temple honouring Annapurna will be established near Sita Rasoi, the site believed to be Sita’s kitchen.

Beyond the temple complex, seven temples will be built across a vast area, each dedicated to revered figures encountered by Rama during the Treta Yuga, including Saints Valmiki, Vashist, Vishwamitra, Shavari and Jatayu.
