On Saturday, the District Education Officer suspended the principal of a government school in the Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh for making children take oath regarding religious conversion. The accused headmaster was arrested by the police in Ratanpur after its video surfaced.
In the viral video, Principal Ratanlal Sarovar was heard administering this oath to the students: “I will not have faith in Brahma, Vishnu as gods and will not worship them either, and I will not have belief in any God and deities of Hindu religion. One should adopt Buddhism and shun Ram-Krishna.”
The exact date of the incident is not clear.
The video of the children taking the oath of religious conversion in this government school in Bilaspur Bilha Block had gone viral on social media, in which it was seen that Principal Sarovar was teaching the children not to believe in Hindu Gods and Goddesses. The education department swung into action and took action against the teacher.
The suspension took immediate effect. A departmental inquiry into the incident of administering an anti-Hindu oath to students has been ordered too. The principal will officially remain an employee of the district education office during his suspension as the investigation proceeds, District Education Officer TR Sahu, said.
Sarovar contravened the third of the Civil Services Conduct Rules, 1965, which governs an education officer.
Several incidents of neo-Ambedkarites and Periyarites in positions of authority in elementary schools across the country administering anti-Hindu oaths to students are reported on X (formerly Twitter). After brainwashing impressionable children against Hinduism, they are heard eulogising Buddhism and encouraging students to convert.
Such oath ceremonies were once held only in political and community gatherings.
As per the Indian law, which is prone to manipulation, such former Hindus, however, remain entitled to caste-based reservations in education and employment. In incidents such as the lynching of sadhus in Palghar in 2020, politicians like the then-Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh also pass the miscreants off as Hindus.
